Food Scientists can work with agricultural products, as well as fish, cattle and poultry to design and develop consumption food products. Preservation conditions are also taken into account together with the physico-chemical characteristics of the foodstuff in order to find the suitable packaging and thus extend their shelf life.
In general terms, professionals in Food Science are able to determine the required industrial process and the equipment for production of foodstuffs. Other Food Science jobs include the performance of quality control and assurance of the plant, so as to guarantee the food safety.
