Biochemists may perform research in plant and animal biochemistry, in areas such as molecular pharmacology and clinical biochemistry with the goal of applying it to human and animal health.
Biochemistry professionals focus their work to solve environmental problems, or to the development of agroindustry, chemical industry and mine-metallurgical industry. Biochemists can also take part on laboratory research for development of natural and chemical products, such as fermentation products, proteins, hormones, among others.
In addition, biochemistry jobs include the clinical field, as part of a health team, working with biological samples and performing and interpreting analysis. Other jobs in biochemistry are quality control and studying and discovering new diseases and vaccines.
